Requirements for HDPE Liner Used in Aquaculture Ponds

In the aquaculture industry, geomembranes can be used for anti-seepage and isolation at the bottom of fish and shrimp farming ponds. Efficient anti-seepage and isolation can prevent mutual contamination between soil and water, reduce sanitation issues and also lower management costs, thereby improving farming efficiency.

HDPE geomembranes made from ordinary raw materials can last 3-5 years. With planned cleaning and maintenance, thinner geomembranes are damaged from natural or human, so they are replaced every 3-5 years at most. So it requires multiple purchases and installations within 10 years, which can result in higher costs. Fish and shrimp farming is directly related to food safety. Geomembranes that are in long-term direct contact with water must ensure safe material sources, and their mechanical properties and chemical resistance must be excellent.

In addition, Zhonglong brand geomembrane also adds carbon black and other stabilizers (about 2.5% of the total raw materials) according to standards to achieve excellent oxidation resistance, aging resistance and UV resistance. Taking the 0.5 mm thick HDPE geomembrane as an example, its effective service life is at least 5-10 years or more, and it has excellent ESCR, which can ensure that the geomembrane will not be damaged by soil settlement or other causes of stress.
